Blue Planet Watersports

Oak Island visitors will find plenty of water in every direction to explore, and new adventures can start with a visit to the centrally located Blue Planet Watersports. Found just inland of the Oak Island shoreline, this all-encompassing watersports center allows Southport and Oak Island vacationers alike to surf, paddle, and learn a new sport with ease via a variety of guided tours, lessons, and rentals.

Visitors who want to ride the waves can sign up for the Blue Planet Surf School, which provides seasonal 3-day, 5-day or even month-long lessons for soon-to-be surfers. For something a little less active, sign up for a guided kayak tour which explores beautiful regions of the coastline which are known for great shelling, exceptional sunsets, avid wildlife, or all of the above. These tours go outside the normal stretches of shoreline and introduce paddlers to a whole new world that’s hidden in plain sight in the southern Cape Fear region. In addition, visitors will also find all the equipment they need – including kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, and even jet skis – to set off on their own Oak Island adventures. From surfing to paddling, patrons will find plenty of ways to have fun with the diverse and distinct Blue Planet Watersports.
