Leave the gentlemen at home and enjoy a getaway that’s dedicated to fishing at the WAIT- Women Anglers in Training event. Held in the heart of Oak Island, this two-day seminar is a fun and immersive fishing tutorial that’s just for the ladies, and which will help anglers of all abilities improve their skills and knowledge of fishing along the North Carolina coastline.

The event is sponsored by the Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department, and takes place over the course of a weekend at multiple indoor and outdoor venues in the Town of Oak Island and beyond. On Saturday, students will have a day of hands-on classroom instruction on the tips and tricks of fishing at the Oak Island Recreation Department, and on Sunday, anglers will put their newfound skills to the test with a fishing excursion to the Oak Island Pier, or out on a boat for some on-the-job experience. With a deep roster of topics covered during the two-day seminar, including tackle, basic knots, flounder, trout and drum fishing, trolling, cast netting, and much more, anglers will go from beginner to pro in no time at all, and can hit the beaches ready to reel in catch after catch all summer long.
