You will appreciate this historic home in the peaceful and beautiful Ardmore-Carolina Place neighborhood. The inviting front porch with swing and rocking chairs, plus the rear deck in the completely fenced yard, make the outside as comfortable as the inside. The neighborhood is a walker’s heaven, just mins. from dozens of eateries, bars and coffee stores in the Cargo District and steps away from a playground. It is a fast drive to Wilmington’s thriving historic downtown, and only 15 mins. to the beach.

The space

This is our second home, and it is set up for living. The modern kitchen has everything you will need, including multiple coffee options (Keurig, pour over, and percolator). A full-size refrigerator provides filtered water and ice. There is a gas grille on the rear deck. The deck overlooks the lawn and gardens in the fenced yard – a peaceful getaway in the heart of the city.

The two bedrooms each have a Queen bed with high quality linens, ample closet space and dresser, and a ceiling fan. There is also a pull-out Queen sleeper couch with memory foam bed. The Master BR has an en-suite bath with dual sinks and a sizable walk-in shower. The second bathroom also offers dual sinks and a tub/shower.

You will have access to a full-size washer and dryer. There is a 55” UHD TV in the living room, and a smaller TV in the MBR; both have a Roku to access your streaming services. The DR table seats six. You’ll find an assortment of books, puzzles and games.

Off-street parking for one car. Plenty of on-street parking. A code to access the front door lock will be supplied before arrival.

The neighborhood

Ardmore was one of Wilmington’s first “streetcar suburbs” in the 1920s and today is considered to be on the edge of Downtown Wilmington. Like the adjoining Carolina Place, Ardmore is made up of modest bungalows with peaceful streets, well-tended gardens and sidewalks made for walking. Nearly every home has a front porch.

Our home is just steps from a modest playground, and a ten-min. walk to a bigger, freshly-refreshed playground in Wallace Park. Wilmington’s vibrant and growing Cargo District is only 10 mins. by foot, with dozens of fashionable eateries, bars and coffee stores. It takes less than 10 mins. to drive (or

30 mins. to walk) to the historic downtown and the elegant Wilmington Riverwalk, and to the growing Soda Pop District.

Southeastern NC is home to some of the country’s best beaches, and Wilmington sits right in the middle. Family-friendly Wrightsville Beach is a 15-min. drive from the home. Carolina Beach, with its historic boardwalk, is only 30 mins. away, and multiple pretty beaches in Brunswick and Pender counties can be reached in less than an hour.

We’ve supplied the home with plenty of information about beaches, parks, historical tours and everything else this region and city have to offer. You’ll also find a list of some of our favorite places to eat and drink, and a walking map to guide you to some of our close-by favorites.

You will adore this casual, family-friendly home in one of America’s best cities. Feel complimentary to ask any questions. Because we live out of state when not living on Nun Street, you are more likely to hear from our excellent property manager, Christina, who will also be available to attend to any issues during your stay.

Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Brunswick area vacation property experience:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • To get the largest vacation home within your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Brunswick area restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Brunswick area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, management companies supply Brunswick area area travel guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose the best vacation rental in the Brunswick area area:

  • Choose dates and budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Comfortable Home in the Heart of Wilmington has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the property manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
