Strategies for getting the best Wilmington vacation property experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • Summer time is high season in the Brunswick area area. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Brunswick area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Brunswick area visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Historic downtown loft apartment - walk 1 block to Wilmington Riverwalk has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or applied to your contract.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • At Check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
