Tips and Tricks to get the very best Brunswick area rental experience:

How to get the best value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the best value, try shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies supply Brunswick area area visitor guides which include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Brunswick area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select vacation week and budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Classic Beach Cottage on the Canal w a Dock has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Upon check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
