Tips for getting the perfect Carolina Beach rental home experience:
Get the best rental value:
- Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Brunswick area visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Selecting and booking the perfectrental home:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Paws & Relax Island Retreat has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. If not, contact the property manager before you book the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
Have a great stay:
- Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
