Tricks and tips to get the optimal Brunswick area vacation rental experience:

When to visit Oak Island & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the largest rental home within budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Brunswick area restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Brunswick area area visitors guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Brunswick area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Choosing the best rental in the Brunswick area area:

  • Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and select a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Carolina Times on OKI - Charming House -1\/3 mile from the Sand! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before booking the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is best for your group.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a particular Brunswick area attraction you long to visit, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
