Strategies to get the optimal Brunswick area vacation property experience:
Sticking to your budget:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserve your rental in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Brunswick area area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Out of the Blue: Classic, Dog-friendly, Ocean View Beach Cottage with Fenced Yar has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If not, email or call the host before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
Know before you go:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of problems.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
