Modest home right on the beach was ideal for our fast stay in oak island. The home had everything we needed.

Our family thoroughly adored our stay at Family Tides Too! It was a week full of handsome sunrises and sunsets (both of which you can see from the back porch), painless walks to and from the beach and rest in a cozy home with all the necessities. We adored playing the games, puzzles and cards that they included. Highly recommend!!

This place was a dream. It’s right on the beach, with an spectacular porch and bay windows in the main inside area - so whether you want to be toes in the sand, in the shade of the porch on a rocking chair or in the AC, you will still be experiencing the gorgeous beach up close and personal. The home is pristine inside - very clean and generously decorated. Beds are very cozy. Kitchen has all the pots, pans, tools and spices you need. The gate for the porch made it super easy for us with our one year old - she could crawl around and play while we hung out in the rocking chairs. The location is striking - quick walk to the ocean crest pier and Island Way restaurant and a short drive to many other eateries and breakfast spots. We may make this an annual tradition!

We had a outstanding stay at Family Tides Too. We spent our time walking the beach or just relaxing in the rocking chairs on the deck overlooking the ocean. Painless drive to great eateries on the island, Southport and even Wilmington. Great location and great view. Doesn’t get any better!

Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental home experience:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • Summer months are high season in Oak Island. Book your rental in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies supply Brunswick area area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Brunswick area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning and picking a perfectrental home:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Renovated 3 Bedroom 2 Bath House, Oceanfront, Dog Friendly, Sleeps 7 has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a certain Brunswick area destination you simply love, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.

More considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the property manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • At departure, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to propel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
