Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation property experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To book the largest rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
  • Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Brunswick area visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking the rightrental home:

  • Choose a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Rising Sun Retreat - 4 Miles to Beach has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the host before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • If there's an individual Brunswick area beach you love, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
