Our top Oak Island rental home tips:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Oak Island. Booking in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Brunswick area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Brunswick area visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.

Make a plan and choose your prefect Brunswick area vacation home:

  • Select dates and budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. 3BR 2B Cottage w/ELEVATOR -5 min Golfcart to the beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Brunswick area rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to propel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
