Pelican's Perch is a single level bungalow with 3 bedroom/2 baths, located on the west end of the island (6 streets from the Midland road beach access). The home has been freshly modernized with refreshed decor, 1 Serta Icomfort king bed, plush queen bed, and 2 plush XL twin beds; sheets are included. There is a screened in porch to keep you away from cousin skeeter (that's southern talk for mosquitoes) and to keep you out of the sun. There are two tvs with YouTube TV, a roku, an apple tv, dvd, and plenty of movies. All bedrooms, living room, and screened in porch have ceiling fans. It is close to eateries, grocery stores, shopping, boat ramps, piers, lighthouses, a movie theater, putt putt, and ....of course...the BEACH.

It is a short 1 mile drive/walk to the beach and only one street away from the intracoastal waterway, Yacht Drive. Yacht Drive offers gorgeous vistas of the Intracoastal waterway while walking or cycling. There is a public walkway/dock overlooking the intracoastal on 4th, 5th, and a modest park on 14th street.

Oak Island has miles of beaches, Plenty of beach accesses, public boating access facilities, breathtaking walkways, two fishing piers and tons more. There is also a city center with 5 public tennis courts, soccer/ball field, skateboard park, and new playground. They also hold modest festivals and outdoor concerts. NEW SPLASH PAD open from 10-6, daily. It is located in Middleton Park Annex behind Town Hall. A modest private airport is just off the Island and offers plane island tours and parachuting. There are numerous marinas close to our home that offer boat, jet ski, and paddle board units. They also offer sunset cruises and deep sea fishing. Don't miss the sunset at one of the marina eateries, while sipping a beverage. If you don't feel like going out, stay at home and prepare in our completely equipped kitchen or grille out in the backyard! Appreciate your meal, the breeze, and fireflies out back on the screened in porch.

Just mins. up the road from OKI, you’ll find the historic town of Southport (#1 America's Happiest Oceanside Town in 2015) where you can grab a coffee, take a break on one of the many swings, walk the oak lined streets, and/or shop for unique gifts and antiques. Take a day trip on the ferry from Southport to Bald Head Island where you can rent a golf cart (no cars allowed on the island) and tour the island. Or, take the ferry to Fort Fisher and visit the Civil War Museum or the North Carolina Fort Fisher Aquarium. Pack a picnic lunch, feed the birds, and search for starfish among the mossy rocks.

Historic Wilmington, NC is a little over 30 miles away. With a colorful past, including tons of pirates, this is a fun city to tour, on foot or by carriage! Visit the USS North Carolina battleship while you are there! Lots of neat stores and eateries are on Chandlers Wharf!

It's a 45 min drive to North Myrtle beach if you want to do some outlet mall shopping or see a big crowd.

Whether you want an active vacation or a calming one, OKI is the place for you!

Booking the best vacation home experience:

When to visit Oak Island & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Summer is high season in the Brunswick area area. To get the most suitable vacation home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Brunswick area restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • In the Brunswick area area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Brunswick area area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.

How to choose the perfect vacation rental:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Renovated beach Getaway on a quiet street has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Brunswick area vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. If not, email the property manager before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • If your group is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • Upon arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
