Gather up the kids and the dog and head to The Island Sandpiper for your next beach vacation! Walk to everything from this trendy complex located in the heart of Oak Island – you’ll find eateries, arcades, stores, ice cream stores (and, of course, the beach!) all just a few moments’ walk from your doorstep. Add beautiful vistas of the sunset from the west-facing balcony and windows along with awe-inspiring community amenities like a seasonal pool for a really extraordinary stay.

The open concept living area is warmly decorated in beachy tones. Sink into the couch, which pulls out to a queen bed if needed, or settle into one of the mid-century modern armchairs instead. Stream cartoons for the kids as you get ready for a day filled with adventure. The square kitchen table seats four, and an additional four seats are available at the adjacent breakfast bar. The kitchen is completely outfitted with everything you need to prepare and dine during your stay, and there’s plenty of counterspace to lay out groceries and supplies. A laundry closet is conveniently located beside the kitchen and provides a stackable washer and dryer for use during your stay. A dog crate is even supplied for your use if Fido needs it.

When it’s time to retire for the evening, each of the two bedrooms is furnished with a TV so you can let the little ones drift off to a favorite movie or Mom and Dad can stay up late even if someone is sleeping in the living room. The master bedroom has a king bed, and the second bedroom has two twins. Each bedroom also offers an attached private bathroom with a step-in shower stall, and the bathroom attached to the twin room provides plenty of floor space in case you have to help younger members of your event.

Step through the sliding French doors in the living room to greet the day on the modest open balcony. Cradle a cup of coffee as the sun warms your skin and reflects off the sea as it stretches across the horizon. When it’s time to hit the beach, you’ll find access is just a short walk away. Watch the condo’s namesake sandpipers flit across the shore as the kids play in the surf or build sandcastles. If you’re ready to cool off but need a break from the sand, take a dip in the complex’s pool instead.

Ready to discover all Oak Island has to offer? You can’t beat this location. Some of the island’s most fashionable dining spots are right around the corner, including Thai and Vine and The Pirate’s Deck. Have a friendly family competition at the close by arcade and follow up with a sweet treat at one of the many ice cream and candy stores within just a few blocks, or pop into one of the beach stores for a souvenir. Lean into the nostalgia of a classic beach vacation without compromising on modern amenities at The Island Sandpiper!

Tricks and tips for getting the best Oak Island vacation rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. To book the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Brunswick area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies supply Brunswick area area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • First and foremost, have your family decide on dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. The Island Sandpiper: Walk to Everything from this Dog-friendly Condo has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental

More tips for your visit:

  • We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a great stay? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
