You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
• Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
• Property management companies often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.

• Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!

• Record a video to document the condition of the property.
• Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to drive more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
